Map & Dates

The Ride: June 13 through mid-August.

Starting in Oregon on Monday, June 13th, I’ll dip my rear tire into the Pacific Ocean at  Ziolkouski Beach Park near Winchester Bay.

The map of the route through Oregon. Markers show how many miles between the various towns.

The ride will end sometime in the the last two weeks of August when I dip my front tire into the Atlantic Ocean in Rehobeth Beach, Delaware.

In the middle, I’ll ride in the RAGBRAI (ride across Iowa July 23-30) with our daughter Jenna, her boyfriend Alex, my cousins Mike, Sally and Shannon, several friends and more than 10,000 other bikers.

Below is a day-by-day schedule. I’ve planned for a total of six rest days with an average of about 50 miles a day. Some days no doubt will be shorter (headwinds and mountains!). While others will be longer (tailwinds and downhill runs).

For those of you wondering, I planned this trip with this great app and input from a variety of bike tour operators, state recreational and biking groups, the awesome folks at Adventure Cycling, and a variety of other people who have gone before me. But this is, as far as I know, a “unique” route. While parts of the route took advantage of these resources, I’ve pieced it together, state-by-state, to meet my own objectives.
