This is it, folks!
MARK AND MELODY UPDATES FROM MARYLAND
SUMMARY: Mark left this morning for the last leg of the bike ride across America!! Read his reflections from last night as he pondered what has happened so far and see pics from this morning below.
MARK UPDATE: Tomorrow is it. I ride from Denton to the Delaware shore — Rehobeth Beach, to be specific. It’ll be a 60-mile ride, give or take. That will leave me just shy of 3,700 miles — and then it’ll be over. Just. Like. That. I’ve tried really hard during these past 65 days to avoid thinking about “the last day.” (To read the rest of his beautiful post click here on his blog.).
MELODY UPDATE: I dare you to read Mark’s post and not cry! I can’t write– I’m a puddle of emotions. I will try to write tonight. For now, I will just let Mark’s blog post speak for me.
A few minutes ago, I sent Mark off for the last leg of this trip!! His cousin Sally from Baltimore joined us last night and will ride in to Rehobeth Beach with Mark. Our daughter Jenna will join us there (she is on her way in from New York City) and I am worried that I won’t be able to film all of this because I am feeling so emotional right now and not sure I’ll be able to hold my cameras. But I will try! Hopefully I will have some pics & video for our readers when this is all done! Gotta go now to catch up to them– will write more soon!
Thanks for following along on our journey!

Find somebody else to film! You deserve to a part of the finish too! Put that camera down and get in that group hug… Wish I were there…???
Ha I wish! I did find some girl sitting on a bench eating ice cream to hold the iphone for video– she did a great job 🙂
Totally agree with Gary. Big hugs to both of you!
I cried just reading the phrase “I dare you not to cry”. I’m not even kidding. It’s been so great following your journey and although I’m sure Mark is happy to rest his body I wish it would go on forever!
Thanks, Judy!! It’s been great having you along for the ride 🙂
